Testing Certification

Engine designs and systems are more complex than ever before. New environmental regulations require cleaner-running engines while customers expect the same power and performance they've relied on for years. Are your technicians qualified to meet these new demands and provide outstanding service?

Kohler offers several opportunities to increase technical knowledge that can help provide better service support to your customers. Our Kohler Factory School courses are the best way to gain in-depth knowledge of KOHLER engines: new engines, factory parts, servicing techniques, new service procedures and time saving tips. We also have a wide array of training materials available for self-study.

Kohler offers technician certification both online and as a written test. The exam consists of 180 questions covering six areas: Theory, Electrical, Fuel, Engine Measurements/Application, Engine Analysis/Warranty and Service/Tool Usage. Technicians are required to pass all six sections to become certified. If you fail a section, you have the opportunity to retake that section. Certification is valid for three years. At the time of expiration, technicians must take the certification test again.

Written certification tests can be taken by contacting your distributor or the Kohler Engines Training Department, (920) 451-4428. To take the test online, use the assessment id and password provided by your central distributor. If you are not a dealer and are interested in taking the test, please contact the distributor nearest you.

The Kohler Engines Training Department offers training aids and teaching materials to help technicians better understand KOHLER engines and provide better customer service.
