Kohler XT-7 Makes Its Mark On Consumer Utility Engine Industry

KOHLER, Wis. – October 29, 2009 – Kohler’s Courage® XT engine series makes its debut in the consumer utility market with the launch of the Courage XT-7 vertical-shaft, 4.5 net hp (173 cc) utility engine.

Utilizing the rugged, professional-grade design of the Courage XT-7 walk-behind mower engine, the Courage XT-7 utility engine has enhanced features to power a wide variety of applications including pressure washers, tillers, log splitters, chipper/shredder, generators and pumps.

The Courage XT-7 utility engine comes standard with an overhead valve (OHV) design, a cast iron cylinder bore and flywheel ball bearing. A wide variety of options allow the engine to be customized to fit the application: 

  • straight or tapered PTO shafts
  • SAE pump mounting
  • engine-mounted controls
  • front or side-discharge muffler
  • fixed or 6-position indexable recoil
  • bottom or side oil drain
  • paper or foam-only air cleaner
  • debris screen
  • recoil or electric start

The Courage XT-7 utility engine is certified for both current EPA and CARB emissions standards. This engine meets or exceeds Society of Automotive Engineers Small Engine Test Code J1940 horsepower requirements.
