Kohler Enters New Turf Market with Its First Walk-Behind Engines
KOHLER, Wis., USA - October, 2007 - Kohler Co. (www.KohlerEngines.com) enters the push-mower turf market with its first walk-behind engine models (Courage XT-6 and XT-7), implementing several of its commercial-ride features that have been respected for more than 80 years in the turf industry. The new Courage XT-6 (3.5 net HP) and Courage XT-7 (4.5 net HP) engines will be available on OEM push-mower brands in early 2008.
The first two models from Kohler are engineered in the United States with high performance and ease of use in mind. The ease of starting this mower makes it a driving force in the race for best starting performance. The Kohler overhead valve design provides for efficient combustion and strong performance, with minimal fuel consumption and emissions. To enhance the engine life, Kohler uses a commercial-grade, cast-iron cylinder liner - which is standard on both models. A forged (not cast) crankshaft is also part of the new Kohler walk-behind engines, providing superior tensile strength and performance, especially for heavy loads and rough mowing conditions. Finally, the KOHLER exclusive feature of a wide-diameter, gas tank opening is also standard to make refueling easier and reduce the risk of gas spill-over.
"Kohler is now a player in the walk-behind market," said Richard Koehl, director of marketing and quality for Kohler Engines. "We’re confident that our approach in taking the appropriate and successful features noted in our commercial-turf engines, and maximizing those to work well with the end user, result in a favorable new engine choice for today’s consumers." Additional engine details:
